ABHA: King Khalid University (KKU) has secured 1st place nationally, 2nd in the Arab world, and 50th globally in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) ranking of the world’s top international universities.
Dr. Hamed bin Majdou Al-Qarni, KKU’s vice president for graduate studies and scientific research, highlighted that this achievement strengthens the university’s academic reputation, enhances its ability to attract top talent, and boosts global research collaborations. He emphasized that KKU’s success aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to elevate Saudi universities to global prominence.
Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, general supervisor of KKU’s international rankings unit, explained that the ranking is based on four key criteria, each weighted 25%: International faculty ratio, Number of international students, International research collaborations and Global academic reputation.
He noted that KKU's strategic focus on international recognition has played an important role in securing this milestone. As a driving force in Aseer Region’s advancement, the university continues to excel in education, research, community service, and institutional governance.
